CMR UK Celebrates 30 years

CMR UK celebrates 30 year business anniversary

CMR UK has recently marked 30 years in business with plans for further growth and an anniversary party for staff at Dissington Hall near Ponteland.

Named on the 2014 Ward Hadaway Fastest 50 list, the company is seeing strong demand for its electrical wiring harnesses, and monitoring and control systems, both from within the global CMR Group and from international OEMs.

The latter includes many of the world’s leading manufacturers of high horsepower engines whose products are used to power marine vessels, mine haul trucks, trains and industrial equipment, both onshore and offshore.

CMR UK, based at the New York Industrial Estate in Wallsend, is also looking to invest further in equipping its workforce with the skills required to meet the demands of emerging engine technologies, marine systems and reciprocating machinery.

Currently employing 80 people at its factory, the firm predicts continued strong demand for its products from China, India and Korea in particular.

It is also gearing up to meet the growing need for advanced instrumentation technology for natural gas applications and new regulations coming into force next year aimed at reducing diesel engine emissions.

Neil Wilkinson, group operations director, said CMR had seen solid growth since 1984.

In the last 10 years, however, the expansion had been more rapid as the business positioned itself as a leading supplier and product innovator.

“We operate in highly competitive, global markets, but thanks to investment in skilled people and advanced new technologies, we have been able to keep pace with and, indeed, stay ahead of ever-changing market conditions,” he said.

“This has enabled us to secure our national and international position as a leading supplier of precision engineered solutions, backed-up by a strong reputation for quality and service."

“This is a very exciting time for CMR. We will retain our values, ‘can do’ attitude and commitment to growth while staying highly responsive to customer needs.”

CMR UK is part of the global CMR Group, which supplies instrumentation, controls and power management for offshore platforms and vessels, marine, engine and industrial applications around the world.

Mr Wilkinson added that the company was focusing heavily on people and talent, having recruited three new apprentices who will learn about customer service, continuous improvement and the challenges of successfully supporting a global customer base.
