CMR GROUP’S PRESENCE AT THE RECENT EXHAUST GAS CLEANING SYSTEMS ASSOCIATION’S CONFERENCE IN SINGAPORE
CMR Group’s presence at the recent Exhaust Gas Cleaning Systems Association’s conference in Singapore was keenly felt, with keynote presentations from Patrice Flot, CTO, and Alexandre Girard, Test and Qualification Project Manager.
Representatives from global scrubber manufacturers, scrubber integrators, shipyards, ship-owner and instrumentation providers gathered in November to discuss the sulphur changes coming into effect in 2020, which are aimed at curbing marine vessel diesel emissions.
The conference set out to inform delegates about the future shape of emissions controls, bunker supplier reactions to the IMO’s 2020 0.50% sulphur cap and the implications of current and future emissions technology solutions. Vessels that do not comply with the cap on fuel oil may be considered ‘unseaworthy’, invalidating charter parties and liability insurance cover.
In his presentation, Patrice advised that there’s no question that the new generation of digital EGT sensors under development by companies such as CMR will become a ‘must have’ technology for vessel owners and operators to assess the health of the valve actuators for fuel injection, whether liquid or gas, and the health of the after-treatment systems on high horsepower marine engines.
Indeed, his presentation was so well received, that to date, there have been more than 50 downloads of his paper from the knowledge bank of industry magazine Marine Propulsion & Auxiliary Machinery, who sponsored the event.
CMR Philippines Inc. is part of CMR Group, which supplies instrumentation and controls for offshore platforms and vessels, marine, engines and industrial applications around the world.
