CMR Far East new contract with James Hardie

CONTROL SPECIALIST CMR CEMENT NEW FAR EAST ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT CONTRACT
International automation and instrumentation specialists CMR Philippines Inc. has won an undisclosed contract to supply new motor control technology to one of Southeast Asia’s leading producers of industrial building materials.

The work covers designing, developing, testing and commissioning retrofitted LV motor control units used on the 24/7 production line at James Hardie’s fibre cement production plant in Laguna, Philippines.

The move will improve the control and protection of electric equipment that used to power the production of thousands of boards each week, which are manufactured from cellulose fibre, Portland cement, sand and water.

Utilising the latest ABB components, the CMR installation will feature the supply of low voltage cables and switchgear panels that will control, protect and isolate electrical equipment from the plant’s main electric power supply. Work will also see the modification of the existing LV main busbar and the installation and commissioning of two starter motors.

The project is being undertaken for local engineering firm JGC Philippines Inc. as part of an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contract that is in place with James Hardie.

Shiella Bagalacsa, project manager at CMR Philippines Inc. in Muntinlupa City, said: “CMR is increasingly becoming a valued and trusted supplier to regional manufacturers and system specifiers, providing cost effective and precision engineered solutions.

“Our bespoke technologies meet critical operational requirements, delivering high levels of reliability, capability and performance in tough and demanding industrial production environments.”

CMR Philippines Inc. is part of CMR Group, which supplies instrumentation and controls for offshore platforms and vessels, marine, engines and industrial applications around the world.
